Guidelines for Subnautica and Below Zero:

  • Feel free to translate creature names.
  • Translation must be the same case as the original.
  • Remember to include all special characters (like "•") and placeholders (like "{0}")
  • Please leave empty strings as-is if you don't know what do do with them.
  • Translation keys similar to Spinefish.TooltipIngredient are alternative versions of given string ("Spinefish" in this example). They allow you to give the same string different formatting. Is's useful when the same string is used in multiple places.
  • Empty and alternative base strings do not count towards translation progress.
  • Language named "English (community)" allow you to propose your own, alternative version of an original, English text. You can use it when you find a typo or if you'd like to improve something else.
  • It is strictly forbidden to use Google Translate and similar services. They often ruin the quality.

Guidelines for language administrators:

  • Do not abuse your role.
  • Communication with other admins of your language is required. You can do so on Translation Forums or Discord. It's a good practice to link a thread for your language on the Admin Dashboard. When you join an existing translation team, you should introduce yourself to other administrators of your language.
  • It is FORBIDDEN to change translations that are already approved by other admins, but contain no grammatical nor factual errors. Before you change such translation, you MUST ask that admin to find out why it was accepted.
  • Translation quality is very important.
